Peggy was born in New York City to Marian and Leigh McQueen and graduated in 1952 from Hunter College, later receiving a Masters in Elementary Education from City College. Her marriage to Dr. LeRoy B. Garner, Jr. ended in divorce after 19 years. A favorite teacher in Westbury, NY for 25 years, Peggy leaves behind a generation of students and educators inspired by her love of learning. Peggy was a longtime resident of Oak Bluffs, MA and Sarasota, FL and was known and loved for her infectious laugh, personal style and inquisitive mind. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and colleagues who live better for having known her. Peggy is survived by her children Chip and Leslie and her granddaughter Sydney.
